CODEMARK CERTIFICATION POPULAR WITH PRODUCT PARTNERS  

The joint New Zealand/Australian certification scheme CodeMark is becoming more and more popular with Masterspec Product Partners. Viking Roofspec have become the latest in almost a dozen manufacturers to achieve certification for their double-layer, modified-bitumen torch-on membrane Viking Bituclad.

Sam Sedon, Viking Roofspec Marketing and Communications Coordinator, described CodeMark as “the pinnacle of The New Zealand Product Assurance Framework“.

"We believe no certificate provides more confidence and certainty than CodeMark” he claims. "Viking Bituclad’s CodeMark assists Councils by providing the highest level of assurance, reducing delays and additional information requests when submitting a consent application. When specifying Viking Bituclad in accordance with the CodeMark Certificate, the issuing of the consent is guaranteed".

"CodeMark is a tough certificate to get; demonstrating the highest quality of product, supplier and distributor – it doesn’t just certify the product, but uses ISO benchmarks to assess all facets of the supply chain".

Architects and specifiers should note that the Viking CodeMark certification covers both types of Viking Bituclad; APP and SBS.  The mainstream type for the New Zealand and Australian markets – APP (atactic polypropylene), is a plasticised asphalt membrane which is a hard-wearing system with a high puncture resistance.

SBS (styrene butadiene styrene) which is a rubberised asphalt, is the more appropriate Viking system for more extreme climates - such as in New Zealand’s Climate Zone 3 - due to its elastomeric properties which deal with the stresses caused by greater temperature extremes

Masterspec have updates in the pipeline for two sections from other manufacturers who have achieved Codemark certification. These will be announced as both new or revised branded work sections are released.
