NEW BASIC SECTION FOR PLYWOOD AND PARTICLEBOARD FLOORS
5430 WOOD BASED SHEET FLOORS
To facilitate the changes to the Masterspec Basic section 3820 CARPENTRY (see separate article) we have created a new generic section 5430 WOOD BASED SHEET FLOORS which relates to particleboard and plywood sheet floors over timber framing.
This separate specialised section, covers the subject of particleboard and plywood floors with more depth, more options and provide a more robust specification than the few clauses in the old CARPENTRY. The new section has more details on types of, sheets, sheet edges, fixings, fixing patterns and fixing options.
Standard construction methods option can now be selected, such as:
- Platform method - sheet edge to perimeter of building with all wall plates on top of sheet.
- Fitted method - sheets fitted between wall plates
- Part platform method - sheets fitted between exterior wall plates, with interior wall plates on top of sheets.
Diaphragm floors are now also covered with a construction method to NZS 3604:
- 1200mm wide sheets with all edges supported, nail or nail plus adhesive fixed, sheet edge to perimeter of building with all wall plates on top of sheet.
5430 WOOD BASED SHEET FLOORS is only available in Masterspec Basic, other Masterspec systems use the existing sections 5431 PARTICLEBOARD FLOORS or 5433 PLYWOOD FLOORS which have also been updated as part of this exercise.
