AMENDMENTS TO NZBC G12 WATER SUPPLIES AND NZBC 13 FOUL WATER

Published 29 March 2017

Amendments to NZBC G12 and G13 Acceptable Solutions mostly revolve around the update of AS/NZS 3500: Plumbing and Drainage, Parts 1, 2 and 4, from 2003 version to 2015 version.

NZBC G12 WATER SUPPLIES (Amendment 10)

AS/NZS 3500.1: 2015 Plumbing and Drainage - Water Services and AS/NZS 3500.4: 2015 Plumbing and Drainage - Heated Water Services, are both now cited in NZBC G12/AS1 Water Supplies and NZBC G12/AS2 Solar Water Heaters. This has caused only small scale changes to the Acceptable Solutions.

With the update of the AS/NZS 3500 Standards there has been a re-organisation of subjects within the Standards. So the same subject may have a different section number now. The Masterspec sections have been updated to suit.

There have been other very minor changes:

  • amendments to AS/NZS 1170.1 and 1170.2, AS/NZS 2712, AS/NZS 2845.1 and AS/NZS 4129
  • AS/NZS 60335.2.35 updated to 2013, about electrical safety for instantaneous water heaters
  • BS 6283.4 replaced by BS EN 1567
  • pipe fitting materials now covered by and included with materials for pipes
  • very slight change of emphasis for internal water tank safety trays

NZBC G13 FOUL WATER (Amendment 6)

AS/NZS 3500.2: 2015 Plumbing and Drainage - Sanitary Plumbing and Drainage, is now cited in NZBC G13/AS1 Sanitary Plumbing and NZBC G13/AS2 Drainage. This has caused only small scale changes to the Acceptable Solutions.

The correction of a mistake in clause numbering in the new G13/AS2 has helped clarify how to use AS/NZS 3500.2: 2015 as an alternative Acceptable Solution and that it is not just restricted to PVC-U pipe.

Pump discharge can now use AS/NZS 3500.2 to comply with G13/AS2, which it could not previously.

There have been other very minor changes:

  • amendments to AS/NZS 1260, AS/NZS 2280 and AS/NZS 3518 to do with pipe materials
  • amendments to AS/NZS 2566 Buried Flexible Pipelines - Installation
  • Minor changes related to G13/AS1, 5.8 Air Admittance Valves

Masterspec
