The Masterspec terms Hold Point and Witness Point has been used for some time to define types of inspections that required advance notice of particular work. They were similar to terms in use in Australia. However, it was felt that the term Witness Point caused some confusion as it did not reflect that witnessing the particular piece of work in question did not necessarily have to take place, but the notification had to.
The term Hold Point has always literally reflected the imperative of its meaning so now the new companion term Notification Point also does.
Masterspec has updated affected sections to the new term and added the definitions to the General section 1232 INTERPRETATION & DEFINITIONS.
