Construction Information Limited (CIL), operating as Masterspec, is New Zealand's market leader in providing specification systems and supporting software for the construction industry.
Formed in 1995, CIL provides the Masterspec specification systems to architects, engineers, designers, utility companies, government organisations and tertiary institutions. There are seven specification libraries on the Masterspec system comprising over 1000+ work sections covering the entire construction process. The libraries are;
Masterspec also provides on subscription access to a curated set of New Zealand construction Standards to match these work sections via a Standards NZ Online subscription.
CIL has also developed the MasterKey tool, intuitively linking specifications to drawings and generating keynotes to match the specification.
The strength of CIL's product range is enhanced by the company's industry ownership - CIL is 100% owned by the New Zealand Institute of Architects and the Registered Master Builders' Association.
Based in Auckland the Masterspec Team travel throughout New Zealand running training seminars on the system and attending key industry trade shows to support specifiers.
CIL's specification system, Masterspec, is an on-line delivery tool which includes a range of branded specification sections. Other services for subscribers include ongoing guidance via regular news bulletins, the Masterspec website with online training, training videos and direct phone assistance.
There are now over 1,450 design offices subscribing to Masterspec, representing more than 6,000 registered technical designers.
A growing number of product suppliers are joining Masterspec to list their products in dedicated branded sections. These Product Partners benefit from offering construction specifiers accurate branded specifications which seamlessly integrate into the Masterspec framework.
CIL is also the parent and operator of the miproducts National Product database, from which the Masterspec system draws up-to-the-minute product data for specifiers.
As part of its commitment to New Zealand construction, CIL manages and maintains the CBI classification and coding system on behalf of the entire construction industry.
CIL's policy is to both respond to market needs and plan for the future, with a number of new specification and digital data connectivity products currently under development.
