A SUBSCRIBER HIGHLIGHT: MIA CASA ARCHITECTURE

01 Dec 2021

Mia Casa Architecture is an Auckland based architectural practice driven to create functional designs that are aesthetically pleasing. Led by designer Lothar van Middelaar, this residential focused practice has a wealth of skill, experience, and knowledge. With a growing team of designers and technicians, they are dedicated to providing fantastic service and documentation for all of their projects.

This architectural practice designs large, complex residential projects, and needed a way to simplify their workflow. Hours of time and resource continually went into ensuring their specification documentation was kept up to date. The practice also needed to ensure their documentation was kept up to date with relevant New Zealand codes and standards. As Mia Casa’s design team was occupied with exciting new projects, specifications tended to fall to the side-lines and they were potentially risking their documentations quality.

Luckily, Mia Casa learned about Masterspec. By subscribing to Masterspec’s Basic library, they were able to dramatically reduce their time spent on maintaining their documentation. “The overall time-savings when creating specifications for large complex residential projects is key. This way we are documenting the new house sooner!” says Mia Casa. Masterspec’s intuitive online, cloud-based platform also provided them the ability to repeat commonly used products and project specifications. “The ability to clone projects where they are similar to the current project is especially useful.”

By cloning projects, Mia Casa is able to simplify their documentation and create consistency within their workflow. This makes their team more productive. As Masterspec has an in-house team of professional editors that updates the documentation, Mia Casa has full confidence in the pre-made specification templates. “We’ve grown to trust the guidance notes to help create accurate content. The alert icons also indicate when clauses have been updated.”

Masterspec allows Mia Casa the peace of mind to focus on what matters most – designing functional homes. By streamlining their specification workflow, the team not only save time but also manage their risk by keeping up to date codes and standards.
