Open BIM Object standard (OBOS)

With the view to improving BIM collaboration and coordination internationally, Masterspec have worked with NATSPEC (Australia) to develop an Open BIM Object standard based.  The standard provides guidance to BIM object developers and users to assist them to develop high quality and consistent BIM content.

CBI (Co-ordinated Building Information)

CBI is classification system for construction related works.  Originally based on the Common Arrangement of Work Sections methodology it has proven to be an effective classification system widely used for organising resources spanning across office libraries, specification, tendering, estimating, and now BIM.

CBI is the basis of the structure used for the Masterspec specification system.

NZ BIM Handbook

Create by the BIM Acceleration Committee and the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment the BIM Handbook is a New Zealand-centric document that: 

  • promotes the use of BIM throughout the project life cycle 
  • creates a common language for the industry to use 
  • clarifies the briefing process for design consultants and constructors 
  • creates a clear path for the future development of the industry.

BIM Survey

This New Zealand National BIM Survey 2013 report has been prepared by Masterspec on behalf of the construction industry with support from BRANZ, RMBF, NZIA, ACENZ, the MBIE-sponsored Productivity Partnership and NBS (UK). It provides a credible picture of present-day attitudes and progress made towards Building Information Modelling (BIM) in New Zealand.
