Open BIM Object standard V1.0
An international standard for object developers.

The intent of this Open BIM Object standard is to support the sector’s drive for a more efficient and defined way of working together. It provides a framework for the consistent creation, maintenance and use of BIM Objects along the building lifecycle.
Designed as an open standard, it utilises the internationally-based buildingSMART IFC [Industry Foundation Classes] Schema to facilitate use of various proprietary design tools and their exchange with downstream applications. It complements a number of other existing industry resources, such as the NZ BIM Handbook, the NZ Asset Metadata standard as well as the soon-to-be-released Masterspec Property Selector.
The Open BIM Object standard is the result of several year's work lead by Masterspec (New Zealand) and NATSPEC (Australia) which included extensive market consultation in New Zealand and Australia.
