Flow House is a strong example of how thoughtful design can unlock the potential of a steep, narrow infill site while delivering a highly sustainable, future‑focused home. Designed for a retired couple wishing to downsize without leaving their community, the project turns what many considered an “impossible” section into a low‑profile, energy‑efficient dwelling that nestles into the hillside.
Thermally broken windows, passive solar design, and a north‑facing winter garden work together to stabilise temperature and reduce operational energy demand, while rainwater harvesting supports gardens and cooling features. The material palette—green zinc cladding designed to patina naturally and locally sourced Blackbutt timber—prioritises durability, longevity, and environmental responsiveness.
This project is the perfect blend of form and function, designed for comfort and connection to nature.
