Standards Online Documentation

Masterspec's Standards Online library is a bespoke collection of over 800 New Zealand construction Standards especially curated for, and matched to, the Masterspec system.

As Standards evolve and are updated, and new specification work sections released, new Standards are added to the collection. Because the Standards are live-linked within Masterspec and Masterspec Link, once you are logged in to Masterspec a simple click will open the Standard in a new tab.

Subscribers have 24/7 electronic online access to a portfolio of more than 800 building related Standards as referenced in Masterspec.

For more on adding a Standards Online subscription go here.

To look at a Standard that is available through Standards Online in Masterspec either;

  • Control-Click on the linked Standard (usually blue text) in the Masterspec work section
  • Click on "Standards on Line" on the Masterspec Link home page and then do a search by the Standard number

Both of these methods will take you to the appropriate results page and show the Standard(s) with that number.

If necessary refine your Search results on the panel on the left hand of the page.

Click on the specific Standard you want to go to that Standard’s detail page.

The ‘Search Results’ list shows the current status of  the Standard, the Latest Amendment date, the Number of Amendments and, by rolling over the ‘Judge’s Gavel’ icon (if present) any New Zealand Legislation referenced by the Standard.

Once through to the listing for the Standard here are a number of other features you should be aware of

  • Table of Contents. If available
  • Supersedes. This lists any previous Standard that this Standard replaces.
  • Standard Status. Either Current, Draft, Superseded or Withdrawn
  • References. Links to documents that this Standard refers to
  • Citations. A list of NZ legislation that this Standard refers to
  • ICS Codes. The International Classification Code for this Standard

Click on the 'View pdf' icon to view and download that specific Standard.

The Masterspec agreement with Standards New Zealand allows you to copy limited text into your specification in support of your Consent or to help establish an Alternative Solution.
