Introducing New Building Product Information Requirements: Ensuring Compliance and Transparency

19 Jul 2023

Effective from 11th December 2023, significant regulatory changes are set to impact designated building products in New Zealand. Known as the BPIR (Building Product Information Requirements), these regulations impose specific obligations on manufacturers and suppliers. It is crucial for them to make certain information about their products publicly available. The required information includes "Relevant building code clauses" and a "Statement on how the building product is expected to contribute to compliance." Demonstrating compliance can be a challenging task, and that's where Masterspec comes in.

With nearly 30 years of industry experience, Masterspec stands as a trusted leader in the Construction Information arena. We have consistently provided our product partners with technical reviews of building materials, including determining how their products contribute to compliance with the Building Code. Leveraging our expertise, we are uniquely positioned to support manufacturers and suppliers in determining the relevant building code clauses that apply to their products and how their building products are expected to contribute to compliance.

We are delighted to announce the launch of two new services tailored to assist manufacturers and suppliers in meeting their obligations under the new regulations:

  1. Guidance from Masterspec: Our team of experts will provide valuable guidance to help you determine the relevant building code clauses applicable to your product and clarify how your building product is expected to contribute to compliance. By leveraging our deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, we will ensure you have the necessary insights to meet the requirements with confidence.
  2. List Your Building Product Information: Through the Masterspec miproducts website, you can conveniently list your building product information, including the mandatory details specified under the new regulations. This platform provides a centralised and accessible resource for specifiers, enabling them to access comprehensive information about your products while ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework.

Partner with Masterspec to navigate the complexities of the new building regulations and position your products for success. Our dedicated team is ready to assist you every step of the way.

"From start to finish, the team at Masterspec exhibited the highest level of professionalism, expertise, and attention to detail throughout the process.

I would not hesitate to recommend their services to anyone in the construction industry looking for a reliable and knowledgeable partner to help them navigate the complex world of building codes and regulations. Thank you, Masterspec, for your exceptional service and dedication to excellence!"
